Summers almost END, but dance is NOT

When August rolls around, it only means one thing for most of us dancers — BACK to SCHOOL!  However, you and I both know that the schoolin’ to be the best dancer you can be does not stop…at all.  This weekend marks a crazy weekend of auditions, workshops, and classes. Peep all the info after the jump and know whats happening this weeekend. (Click the images and titles for details)

This Saturday FR3SH Dance Co. –the MAIN operating dance company that stemmed Matawan, NJ’s FR3SH Dance Crew on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew — opens its doors to the public and dancers 18+ and up once again for auditions to their new season.

After having gained their 15 minutes of  fame from their performances on the premier episode of ABDC Season 4, the main dance company is looking for new dancers with “FRESH” new talent to fill their company.

To those who brave the auditions and make it onto company, FR3SH promises: Formal Training, Frequent Performance and a Fun Family!

All auditions take place at AIM Dance Academy [25 Morristown Road Matawan, NJ] and cost $5. Company auditionees are required to bring a headshot and resume.

Auditions are the whole entire day and also include company (18+),  junior team (17 and below), and freestyle crew.

RHYTHMOLOGY Workshop w. Sean Plank

Rhythmology hosts Sean Hyun Plank this weekend at their weekly Saturday class. Sean is an amazing dancer with styles known to fuse blends such as contemporary funk or lyrical hip hop. His credits include choreography for PAC Modern 2002-2006, choreographing for Phoenix Dance Company, and later, trained with Funkanometry SF on scholarship. And if you can’t make RHYTHMOLOGY’s class at 12:30PM-2PM, then you can catch him a second time at Arts In Motion Dance Studio in Matawan, NJ for company class with FR3SH Dance Troupe, LLC.

ALVIN de Castro is the man from “down unda.” This Aussie representing Melbourne, Australia’s Beatphonik Dance Crew will be teaching at Project D‘s SPECIAL ONE Day WORKSHOP this Saturday from 1:30-3PM at Step by Step Dancesport, inc in Bergenfield, NJ. If you missed his class yesterday at Boogiezone NJ, then this is your last chance to catch up and learn from one of the finest from Australia, mate!

UN1TE, just as the name suggests, is a dance company from TORONTO, CANADA with the  intention towards bringing together the dance scene in CANADA. Their recognition has come a long way since their initial beginnings. Now in this present day, UN1TE has teamed up with C2 Genesys, and KOREsthetic Dance Crew to bring their major workshop, entitled, THE EAST COAST SWAGGER TOUR. If you’re living on the East Side of Canadia, or are going there this weekend, this is an even you defnitely do not want to miss!

NERDZ Dance Troupe, a new up and coming dance team to our scene, is headed by ROHIT BAXI and RICARDO GENARD DAVIS. This weekend to kick off the birth of their new team, they’re offering an all day affair of workshops in Edison, NJ. Check them out and see what they’re all about!

If you live in East Brunswick, NJ and you’re looking for a home to dance, then iLL theory — yet another newly birthed dance crew in South Jersey  — offers classes to those who are willing to take it at the NY Sports Club center in that area.  Try something new and tell us about it!

The workshop designed towards uniting a community, the tri-state area, and beyond…is BACK.  Last year’s SYNERGY Summer Quarter was a great success, uniting a couple of NJ local based dance teams in one hot steamy room. Included in the event was an all day variety of talent that featured Karlo Soria (of FR3SH and currently PAC MODERN), Jeff Manosca  (Phillanova, Point Blank, and Fr3SH), Mark Choi (STFU, SERCis Dance Co./SiC), and Mark Garcia (of FLO Dance Team).

HOWEVER, THIS year’s line up features new aspiring and up and coming talent with dancers BEN FULLON of EPIC Motion NYC, KATRINA BADIOLA of FR3SH and all female crew VEN15, and STEVEN HOM of STFU crew and Point Blank. If you wanted an opportunity to take a taste of what’s out there without committing to a team, this would be the event to preview the talent for yourself. And the best thing about it? ITS $5 bucks for the whole day, and it all goes towards a good cause. For more info, click on the picture.
